There is no one who can bring a smile to anyone's face like a clown. We know that as you plan your son or daughter's birthday party, you are more than likely debating what kind of entertainment to have at the party. There are many choices no doubt. But we believe that you really cannot go wrong with hiring a clown. Clowns are usually very versatile. .Many of them can juggle, make balloon animals, do magic tricks as well as work with props in doing physical gymnastics. A high quality clown also knows how to interact with the kids as a group and as individuals. And this point really can't be stressed enough. There is one thing that we must warn you about. Make sure that your son or daughter will actually have a positive reaction to a clown. There are some kids that have a negative reaction to a clown for one reason or another and it is important to be clear on this point. The last thing that you need is to have the guest of honor hiding in their room or screaming and crying. Once you have been assured of this however, it will be time to start searching around the Albuquerque area for some prime candidates. We have put together a guide here that will help you locate some quality candidates and will also help you determine which candidate is the clown for your birthday party.
You probably never thought you would be doing this did you? Searching for a clown. But, hey, if it will make your son or daughter's birthday party be the best it can be, then you are willing to put your best foot forward. Where do you begin looking for clowns? We have a few avenues that you can pursue. What about good old word of mouth? Talk with your family, friends and coworkers about whether they have ever hired a clown or experienced one at an event. And don't forget about the best source of information around, the world wide web. Do a Google search for “clowns in the Albuquerque area.” Start checking out the websites of individual clowns. Do you like what the site says about the candidate, do you like how they dress, their makeup? Can they bring a lot of skills to the party? If you feel like there are too many links to go through, pick a number that you think is reasonable and check that number out. You should be able to come up with 3 to 5 quality candidates to check out. Call each one up and see if they have any other engagements on the day of your birthday party. If they do, you will need to move onto your next candidate. If they do not, ask if you could meet with them and talk about your needs.
There is some information that you will need to pull out of each candidate that you interview. Find out if they specialize in a certain age group. What is their background? Why did they become a clown? What kind of things do they do when they are at an event? How long have they been performing? What separates them from their competitors? Here is something that we cannot stress enough. Run a background check on anyone you consider hiring. Always keep in the front of your mind that this is a person who is going to be performing in close proximity to your children as well as other people's children. Ask for references. Make sure you talk with each one and see if there were any red flags. What is their demeanor like? What about their personality? If you interview a candidate that gives you an uneasy feeling, move onto your next candidate..How much do they charge? How long will they perform? If you want to keep them for a bit longer than you originally agreed upon, ho wmuch extra would you have to pay? When one candidate emerges as the favorite, ask them to write up everything in a contract. Make sure you go over everything in the contract in detail. If you see anything that needs to be corrected or changed, now is the time to get that done. When you are satisfied with what you see, have them and you sign on the dotted line. It is now time to bring in the clown.
